How to to Find the Workout Class That Fits You Best

Have you hit a fitness plateau? Well, it might be time to experiment with a different workout class. Exercise is important for both our physical and mental well-being. So finding something we look forward to doing each week is really important. There are all sorts of classes out there, but finding one that’ll actually motivate you is the hard part.

Find a Workout Class You Actually Enjoy

The best workout is a workout you’ll enjoy. You shouldn’t feel a feeling of dread in the pit of your stomach every time you head to a class or the gym. After all, they recommend 150 minutes worth of moderate exercise a week. This equates to roughly 3 sessions and those 3 sessions shouldn’t be torcher. With this in mind, to be consistent and build a routine, you need to find what you are doing enjoyable.

Vary Your Workout Classes

Check out this list for some examples of workouts that might just work for you!

  • Boot Camps – Boot camp classes are intense and great for people who want to really push themselves. They usually include activities such as combat drills, running, weightlifting and much more.
  • Spinning – Spinning classes combine cycling, aerobics and weight training. The best part is that they’re easily adaptable to your fitness level and there are all sorts of different classes out there. Whether you’re looking for a hard 100 mile ride or just a light 30 minute spin class.
  • Pilates – Pilates classes focus on core strength and stretching movements. They can be great if you’re trying to develop lean and toned muscles and increase your flexibility.

  • Kickboxing – Kickboxing is a class that combines aerobic exercise and martial arts in a way that’s great for improving muscle tone and agility.
  • Boot Camps – Boot camps are intense workouts that put you through your paces. Squats, pushups, running, running up hills and all sorts of fitness drills can be found in these challenging classes. They’re great for people who like to set challenging fitness goals for themselves.

Most of these workouts are pretty intense, so why not mix it up? Mixing things up is a great way to stay motivated because you’ll have something new to look forward to each week.

Give Your Workout Class a Chance

Attending a class once isn’t really enough for you to decide if you like it or not. There are several reasons for this:

  • If you haven’t worked out for a while, it is going to hurt! You will be using muscles that haven’t been used for a while.
  • Some classes require you to follow steps and it won’t be as enjoyable until you know them. Keep going because there are not many who catch it first time

Avoid Overdoing it

What can we say, we have all been there at some point. Too much of a good thing can be bad. If you find a fitness class you enjoy think about it before you sign up for it for 3 sessions a week. The chances are that after week 4 you are not going to enjoy it anymore.

Don’t Push Yourself Too Hard

There is a reason that we all go to the gym or fitness classes and in order to reach our goals, we have to push ourselves. “A little” is key. If you push yourself too hard then you can end up with injuries that not only hurt but also give you a bad feeling about what you are doing.

Workout class

When you’re in the middle of a workout, don’t rush through the exercises. They’re meant to be taken slow and easy. If you can’t even remember what your instructor was saying, you’ve probably overdone it.

Achieve it

It’s not a bad idea to try several classes at once. Make sure you chose a variation of activities. That way you can really compare what you like about each and what you don’t. Take into consideration how they make you feel before and after your workout. And most importantly if you are getting your desired results. Whether that be more energy, better fitness or a more sculpted physique.
